Khushi with Paints.
Hi, I am Khushi Dalal
Painting has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It began with scrapbooks, crayons, and sketchbooks scattered across my childhood, but somewhere along the way it became something much more than a hobby. Today, painting is how I slow down and make sense of the world around me.
I paint because I notice things—the way sunlight settles on an old building, the way a street vendor carries himself, the particular green of a parakeet's nape, the colour of a wall that's been painted over too many times. I'm endlessly inspired by Indian streets, birds, botanicals, and the beauty hidden in everyday moments that often go unnoticed. While I enjoy experimenting with different mediums, Watercolour is the medium that best keeps up with how I see the world. They capture light before it changes and embrace imperfections rather than hiding them.
The pandemic gave me the time and space to paint consistently again, and in that quiet period I rediscovered not only my love for art but also the kind of stories I wanted to tell. I emerged with a body of work that felt more honest and unmistakably my own.
As an introvert, sharing my work has never come naturally. Every painting feels a little like handing someone a page from my journal. Yet it's through those paintings that I've found connection—with people who see pieces of their own memories, homes, or stories reflected in mine.
Whether it's an original watercolour, a custom pencil sketch, or a hand-painted wearable piece, I hope my work encourages you to pause, look a little closer, and find beauty in the details we usually rush past.
